Get Your Street Food Fix!

Get ready for a fantastic event this weekend in San Giovanni! This Sunday, October 13th, Circolo degli Artisti is putting on a special sequel to their wildley popular "Street Food in Circolo"event, which features dozens of gourmet Italian and international street food vendors, a cooking workshop, craft beer and wine, a photography exhibition and a movie screening.

The street food vendors will be serving all sorts of delicious treats from around the globe. Of course, there will be many Italian classics, like crostini (toast with toppings), pizzette (mini pizzas), suppli (stuffed rice balls), pastries, tramezzini (large tea sandwiches), porchetta and also more innovative fusion foods, like the now famous Trapizzino (which combines the elements of fried tramezzini sandwiches stuffed with pizza ingredients). International offerings will range from Tex-Mex style tacos, to spare ribs, tapas, french food and cous cous.

Mediterraneum will be conducting a cooking workshop about fried street food in Southern Italy. They will be cooking pittule salentine (fritters from Salento) and panelle palermitane (fried bread from Palermo). Instructors will be teaching about the ingredients, preparation, and history of the dishes. Price is 10 euro and includes wine. Classes last about one hour and start at 5:30pm, 7:00pm, and 8:30pm.

Andrea Federici will be exhibiting his photography of travel, food, and wine. There will be a screening of the documentary film "Esta es mi comida" by Stefano Marras, which profiles the diverse street food of South America's major metropoli.

The best part of all is that entrance is completely free! Doors open at 5:00pm. Make sure you cash in your euros for tokens at the cash registers inside the event to buy food.
